CO2 Reducing Decor

Per Google: Animals breathe in oxygen and exhale CO2, while plants take in CO2 during the day and release oxygen.

So why not decorate with CO2 reducing and Oxygen producing plants?! They not only help produce Oxygen, they bring green and life to your space!

I have always loved plants and flowers. But that doesn’t mean I’ve always been good at keeping them alive. I have had many trials and failures and continue to learn every time I get a new plant be it inside or out. When we first walked into this run down extremely dated house and I saw this sun room, I knew instantly that I had to fill it with plants.

We’ve been her almost two years and I’m just not getting it close to the vision I had that first day. It’s been a long process and evolves every month or so. Patience is probably the one thing I didn’t realize would be a part of bringing this sun room to its full potential with greenery. I’ve had to slowly add a plant here and a plant there to see how it grew, how much light it liked, and of course the most important element, what looked good.

Dining Room/Bar

I am always changing and adding plants in my sun room/dining room/bar.

I collect different pots and baskets and even trunks to make my plants not only breath fresh air into the space but add decorative elements.

Adding these ferns in the windows really took this room to the next level for me. And it’s a funny story how they got there. Last year we had major flooding on our property and our pool, which is what you see out those windows, was completely brown for months after the floods. It was so depressing to look out and see my sad sad pool, so, I decided to hang plants in the windows. It made such a difference! AND, I haven’t taken them down all year! You just never know what’s going to be the next inspiration for your decor!

Baskets are a plants best friend

I never pass up on a basket that’s on sale. Baskets can be pricey and they have so many uses.

I love putting plants in baskets, and unconventional baskets. Not just the baskets that are shaped like a pot, but big baskets. It makes me feel like this big beautiful plant was just delivered to me as a present.

I often move them in and out of different baskets. But one of the things that’s great about the big baskets is you can place a basic plastic saucer under the plant and not have it show.

Plants in the Trunk

Different sizes and different containers help to make plants a design element, not just a Co2 converter.

I don’t think I’ve spent more than $20 on a trunk that’s in my house. I find them at thrift stores and yard sales… Some times they sit around waiting to inspire me what to do with them. And some times their purpose is evident right from the start.

I got this trunk for $10 at a thrift store and it had many purposes before this one.

Just one big plant wasn’t quite filling the space, so I added a smaller plant propped up on a crate to add dimension and design value.
