DIY Bathroom Remodel for $500

The budget for renovating the farm is a lot thinner than the list of projects yet to complete. So, we’ve had to adjust our standards and I’ve had to recreate a vision with a budget.

Our master bathroom is something that’s been bothering me for a long time. My first vision was a complete redo of the footprint. It was going to cost us $10,000, and that’s with us doing the work.

Time to recalibrate….

There wasn’t anything I liked about this bathroom. But I had a new budget and I had to make it happen. One thing I knew for sure, I couldn’t afford a new vanity. My original vision included a natural wood vanity, but that was never going to happen w…

There wasn’t anything I liked about this bathroom. But I had a new budget and I had to make it happen. One thing I knew for sure, I couldn’t afford a new vanity. My original vision included a natural wood vanity, but that was never going to happen with this piece. So, I went out of my box and picked a bold color to give the existing vanity a pop.

After deciding what to do with the vanity, the next big step was the counter top and sinks. I knew that was going to be the next biggest expense. One of my favorite go to’s for cheap and great looking counter tops is butcher block. We got this one at IKEA for under $150. It’s super easy to install and comes presealed.

Once I had those pieces put together in my vision I knew I wanted vessel/bowl sinks with faucets that were different. But again, sinks and faucets can easily be $200 each and way above. In walks my BFF Amazon! After a lot of research I found our sinks and faucets. All four items were under $250 all together!!

As for the other finishing touches, subway tile is about the cheapest nicest looking tile you can get. I decided that I would leave the floor tile for both time and $$ purposes, but don’t think I won’t come back to it later. A cute rug from Target for $40 added a huge design element and helps me forget that I didn’t do the floor. Work with what you’ve got is the motto here!!

I still have some things I’m thinking about doing in here. Maybe some wallpaper…I’m going to add some side mirrors…but the bulk of it is done and I love getting ready in this updated space. It especially makes me feel good when I remember that I didn’t break the bank with this one!
