The Speakeasy Party

The Speakeasy Party

Calling all Guys and Dolls!!!

I start thinking about the details of our annual Halloween party while swimsuit season is just getting started. But, one thing I've discovered, is that many of my friends don't feel the same. Hmmm.... While they do love the party, they don't love the thinking of the costume. For me that's a fun challenge, for others it's more of a roadblock to getting to a fun party.

So this year, I though I'd help my guests out a little and plan a themed party, thus eliminating the anxiety induced by trying to get all extra creative and original.  This year's theme was Speakeasy. And boy did everyone get into it, especially me!

This party was so much fun, I just might theme all of my gatherings as Speakeasy!

Details. Details. Details.

Details are the extra little things that give your guests a unique party going experience. Here are some of the details that made this party a true step back in time!

Downloaded these signs from Etsy and got them printed at FedEx. I spent less than $40 in total for about 6 signs.

These old milk crates were in our barn when we bought the property. And I printed these signs on my home printer from an Etsy download.

Old suitcases and trunks have more uses in your home than decoration. (I feel another post bubbling...) But I was super excited to toss aside the usual decorations that adorned these beauties and open them up for a Speakeasy bar you couldn't buy on Amazon.

And I nearly lost it when I found these perfectly period bottles of wine in Trader Joes! #thankyoutradersThemed drink ingredients filled this time period luggage with the recipes for 3 different forms of giggle water.

Making your guest feel special is important to me when I throw a party. So for this party I created an FBI Most Wanted poster. First, I found silly pics of my friends on line, and then tried to come up with a 1920's themed crime that they just may have committed in another life;)

Along the way, I've created one rule for myself when throwing a party: Plan to the point where you think of every detail , so when it comes to party time, I can play the part of a guest and enjoy the fruits of my labor.
